Primitive Outback offers 2½-3-hour kayaking trips that are self-guided where you will see lots of different birds, river otters, beavers, deer, fish and other wildlife in their natural setting. You can rent kayaks or bring you own equipment. Guided tours and a shuttle service are also available.
The Little Tennessee is a Class 1 river with no white water. It’s easy flowing with a nice sandy bottom. Perfect for family adventures.
For Rock Hounds and Treasure Hunters, get your Gem Treasure Bucket and pan rain or shine in the covered outdoor flume. Primitive Outback offers a variety of bucket sizes to choose from. You will find many varieties of gems such as rubies, sapphires, topaz, emeralds, smoky quartz, crystal quartz, aquamarine, tourmaline, garnets, amethyst, peridotite, moonstone, agate, bloodstone and many, many more.
They provide everything you need and help you identify the gems you discover. Search for the ultimate gem. You can always buy a stone but it is much more precious when you find it yourself. It’s a keepsake that and you will always remember where, when and how much fun you had finding it.
Primitive Outback also now offers now Indian Pottery Tours. This kayak tour takes approximately six hours and reservations are required. Come and search for your own genuine Indian Pottery along the Little Tennessee River with a guide to take you to all the hot spots.
Trip begin at 10:30 am, Tuesdays & Thursdays. They supply the guide, kayak, life vest, paddle, bucket and digging tools. All finds are yours to keep and take home or donate to Franklin Historical Museum.
